The Campbell Memorial Red Devils headed into the 1993 State Finals with a regular season record of 14-6. Seeded number one for the Salem Sectional-District Tournement, they earned a first round bye.
The Devils took on Southern Local and anihilated them in an 86-37 victory. The Devils won the Semi-Finals over Crestview, 77-57. They went on to knock off Springfield Local 77-61 to take the district title.
Rootstown proved no match for the Devils as they rolled over the Rovers in a 62-39 victory. The big game was against the Orrville Red Raiders. The Devils took the lead for the first time with a bucket by Farrington in the last 24 seconds of play. The Devils finished with a 55-54 victory and the Regional Crown.
The State Semi-Finals pitted the team against Cincinatti McNicholas. The Devils out
rebounded McNicholas 42-29, and forced 19 turnovers in a 69-46 victory. The title
game against Belpre found the Devils down after 8 minutes, 12-6. Ryan Merrell hit
his first three pointer of the post season to help the Devils to a halftime lead of 22-20.
During tense play, the Red Devils managed to outlast Belpre 47-39, before 11,952
fans, to bag the Devils first State Division III Championship in St. John's Arena.
