The high purpose of the National Honor Society
To which I have been elected
I will be true to the principles
for which it stands;
I will be loyal to my school,
And will maintain and encourage
high standards
of character, scholarship, leadership, and service.
 

    To be eligible for membership a student must have a minimum grade point average of 3.000.  The student also has to meet the service requirement.   This is determined by his or her activities both in and out of school.   Although a student is being commended for maintaining a high scholastic average, membership is not guaranteed to anyone.  The final determination for membership rests with the faculty.  The faculty will rate the student on character and leadership.

    The National Honor Society is a service organization, and we do a great deal of volunteer work.  The members as well as the rest of the school participate in a canned food drive every year.  We also help the Red Cross with an annual blood drive.  NHS members also volunteer their time to gift wrap at the mall during Christmas.  This is sponsored by the Second Harvest Food Bank. The NHS also had members at the Cans Film Festival.  There are also many other services that the NHS members volunteer to do.

       Even though the NHS is a service organization, we do have one fund raiser.  The NHS sells potato chips throughout the course of the year in order to pay for the banquet they have each year to induct the new members.
