TECH PREP
Tech-Prep (Technical Preparation) is a combined secondary and post-secondary program that
is designed to prepare students
for technical careers.
WHY IS TECH-PREP IMPORTANT TO STUDENTS?
Tech-Prep provides students with options designed to
' Build and enhance technical knowledge and skills.
' Strengthen academic foundations in math, science, and communication skills.
' Challenge and raise the personal expectations of students.
' Prepare students for additional studies and technical specialization.
' Sharpen the competitive edge for students entering the job market.
WHAT
OPTIONS EXIST AFTER TECH-PREP?
After completing a Tech-Prep curriculum at the high school level, students may opt to
' Receive post-secondary credit for technical courses taken in high school.
' Enter a four-year college or university.
' Enter the work force directly.
WHAT COURSES ARE RECOMMENDED FOR TECH-PREP?
During the four high school years, students will take academic and technical course work.
Tech-Prep students are encouraged
to take at least two applied academic courses:
Technical Math, Technical Algebra, Geometry, or Mechanical Drafting.
Additionally, Tech-Prep students should choose at least four technical courses from the
recommended electives from the
career cluster of their choice to obtain a Tech-Prep endorsement.
Tech Prep can be taken a couple of places. In your junior year you would attend
the Choffin Career Center
half of the day, and return back to Campbell Memorial for the rest of the day. In
your senior year it is the other
way around.
What I like best about Tech Prep.
I feel that the advantage of having a technical education in High School is enormous.
I have taken several field trips to local Industry partners, and cooperated in project
with them.
Acting as real engineers we were given a problem, and came up with a solution.
We took this project to a Regional competition and won.
