Campbell City Schools recently purchased a new, 9-passenger van which will reduce District costs by more than $400.00 monthly.
In years past the school paid $1,200 a month through an outside company to shuttle a single student to and from the Champion’s School for the Deaf. With the purchase of the new van, Campbell Schools can now transport their resident student and save considerable costs.
“We seek cost saving alternatives.” said Superintendent Matthew Bowen. “In our research we discovered it was less expensive to purchase a new van through State rates, than to purchase a used vehicle.”
This type of vehicle is the largest of its type that does not require a commercial driver’s license to operate. As a bonus, the district now is able to use the van for small group activities and select sporting events.
