School Philosophy

The purpose of the faculty and administration of Campbell Middle School is to develop a clear-thinking, morally and ethically sound personality who can take an effective part in our democratic society. It is our chief objective to educate each of our students in such a way that he/she is able to reach his/her maximum potential. With this goal in mind, we have developed a curriculum, which allows for individual differences and abilities.

A student's course of study is a valuable tool, which will aid the student in attaining his/her future goals. Therefore, diagnostic tests are administered to pinpoint areas of strength and weakness. After this data is compiled, the guidance counselor is better able to assess the student's ability and place him/her in the area best suited to his/her needs.

In addition to this effective, all-around program, we strive to teach and hold the fundamentals of democracy and seek to aid our children in developing good habits, righteous attitudes, self-discipline an proficiency in school and community life.

Although our aims are varied and complex, we have arduously undertaken the task of developing a curriculum which encompasses all of these factors. A statement delineating these goals follows in the Objectives of Campbell Middle School should you have any questions, please feel free to call the office at 330-799-0054

Absences

Learning is a complex process that demands full participation by the student as well as regular observation. Whenever a student is absent from school, the process of learning is interrupted and the teachers’ abilities to provide appropriate instruction are hindered. We recognize absences from school may be necessary under certain conditions. However, every effort should be made by students and their parents to ensure good attendance and to limit absences or tardiness. If a student is absent for any reason, please telephone the school at 330-799-0054 and choose the attendance line (#1). Parents may request homework for extended absence if a student is absent. Please allow the teachers a 24-hour notice to prepare homework requests.

Lockers

Lockers are provided to students as a convenience and are the property of Campbell Middle School. Students are to use only the locker assigned to them and should not share their locker or the combination with anyone else. Students are responsible for the appearance and neatness of their lockers. To help maintain a safe environment, the school reserves the right to inspect lockers when necessary.

Telephone Use

Telephone usage is limited to school business and emergencies. Do not ask the secretaries to use the phone for personal use. Parents should limit phone calls to school business only. Only Administrators are permitted to remove a student from class to use the telephone. All emergency use of the telephone must be approved by an administrator.

Visitors

Visitors must report to and register at the Middle School Office to receive a visitor pass. Parents are welcome to visit classes in session when an appointment is scheduled, in advance, with the teacher. As a courtesy to both teachers and students, please do not interrupt a class without an appointment.

Lost and Found

Lost and Found articles are kept in the office where students can check during lunch and at passing time.

Textbooks

Textbooks are assigned to individual students. Students are responsible for the condition of the book when returned. A significant change in the condition of the book (beyond normal wear-and-tear) may result in a fine. Students are also responsible for the replacement cost of a lost book. Students should not share or loan books to other students.

Early Dismissal

Parents are urged to have their children attend school all day. Appointments should be scheduled for times when school is not in session. A student who must be dismissed early must provide a note upon arrival at school, signed by a parent, stating the time and reason for early dismissal. Students will be issued an early dismissal pass. Parents must come into the main office and personally sign the student out of school. Students are required to contact teachers prior to dismissal to receive assignments that they will be missing due to early dismissal.
