Our month of September will be filled with many activities that involve getting to know each other. I thought it would be a great idea if I told you a little bit about myself, considering I’ll be spending most of the day with your child.
I was born on September 6, 1967. I come from a family with mom, dad, one sister and two brothers. Kevin is older and Chrissy and David are younger. My parents’ names are Ken and Dee Kish. I grew up in Campbell and attended Catholic school in the elementary years and then went to Campbell Memorial for high school. I graduated in 1985 and then attended YSU where I received my Elementary teaching degree in 1990.
I had gotten a job right out of college teaching First grade at St. Patrick’s School in Youngstown. I held that position for six years and then the school closed. They reopened the school under new leadership and New Hope Academy was established. I was hired to teach First grade there and did so for three years. Then I was hired by Campbell to teach First grade, but there was one problem… there wasn't a physical classroom for me to teach in. I was told to float in and out of the five First grade classrooms and help with Reading. That was my job for three years until our new school was built. During that floating period I decided to return to Westminster College to get my Masters Degree in Elementary Education. I graduated in the spring of 2001. When our new school was built and opened, I received my own class of first graders. I’ve been in first grade ever since. I’m looking forward to another great year with a bunch of super kids!
My husband's name is Bill. We were married September 19, 1992 and we’ll be celebrating our twenty second anniversary this year. Bill is a teacher at Martin Luther King Jr. School in Youngstown. He will be teaching Fourth grade this year. We were blessed with our son Joey on April 29, 1995. Joey is a sophomore at Westminster College where he is pursuing a degree in Music Education. He also swims on their swim team.
As far as hobbies go, I like to spend time with my family, read, and spend my time looking for new ideas to use with the kids in the classroom. I love my job! I love teaching! :)
I’m sure you’ve heard enough and I’ll end this ALL About Me letter. I hope this has helped you get to know me better. I’m really looking forward to getting to know you and your child better. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call me at the school (330) 799-5211 ext.61070
