Congratulations Matthew Cruz

We would like to congratulate Matthew Cruz, Campbell Memorial High School Class of 2024 graduate! Matthew is our first student at Campbell to participate in and successfully complete the Information Technology Pre-Apprenticeship program.  This IT pre-apprenticeship is made available through the guidance and collaboration of YSU’s Workforce Education and Innovation and the ESC of Eastern Ohio.  The goal of this pre-apprenticeship opportunity is to prepare students for entry-level jobs and post secondary education in the technology field through real world experiences and on the job training while in high school. Students can prepare for careers in networking, software, hardware, tech support, and telecommunications.

Over the course of his senior year, Matthew worked closely with the YSU Workforce team to complete career assessment and job readiness training, along with a focus on leadership, teamwork, and customer support skills.  Matthew also completed and passed the certification exam for the CompTIA IT Fundamentals industry-recognized credential.  Another necessary piece of this Pre-Apprenticeship included an IT Mentorship made available to Matthew through the Technology department at Campbell City Schools, under the leadership of Mr. Eric Gonzalez, Technology Director, along with other members of the Campbell Tech-Support team. They provided on the job training and technology troubleshooting and support, allowing Matthew to receive the necessary work based learning hours required for this pre-apprenticeship.
